Oreo Cake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 cups (372g) all-purpose flour.
02 - 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar.
03 - 1/2 cup (40g) dark cocoa powder.
04 - 2 teaspoons baking soda.
05 - 1 teaspoon salt.
06 - 1 1/2 cups (355ml) hot water.
07 - 1/2 cup (118ml) hot coffee.
08 - 3/4 cup (177ml) vegetable oil.
09 - 2 tablespoons (30ml) white vinegar.
10 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
11 - 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter.
12 - 1/2 cup (95g) vegetable shortening.
13 - 7 ounces marshmallow cream.
14 - 3 cups (339g) powdered sugar.
15 - 1/2-1 teaspoon salt.
16 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
17 - 1-2 tablespoons heavy cream.
18 - 10 Oreos, crushed.

# Instructions:

01 - Heat oven to 350°F.
02 - Butter and flour two 8" or 9" cake pans.
03 - Mix dry cake ingredients.
04 - Combine wet ingredients.
05 - Mix wet into dry ingredients until smooth.
06 - Pour into pans, bake 34-38 minutes.
07 - Cool completely.
08 - Beat butter and shortening until smooth.
09 - Mix in marshmallow cream.
10 - Add powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and cream.
11 - Layer cake with frosting and crushed Oreos.
12 - Double frosting recipe to cover sides.

# Notes:

01 - Coffee enhances chocolate flavor.
02 - Can omit coffee and use hot water.
03 - Special Dark cocoa gives best Oreo taste.
04 - Add salt to cut frosting sweetness.
05 - Makes a 'naked' style layer cake.
