Sausage Parmesan Pasta (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound smoked or Italian sausage, sliced.
02 - 4 tablespoons butter, divided.
03 - 1 tablespoon olive oil.
04 - 3 cloves minced garlic.
05 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
06 - 12 ounces pasta (penne or fettuccine).
07 - 1 1/2 cups heavy cream.
08 - 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
09 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
10 - 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional).
11 - Salt and black pepper to taste.
12 - Fresh parsley for garnish.

# Instructions:

01 - Brown sliced sausage in oil over medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Remove from pan.
02 - Melt butter in same skillet, cook garlic 1-2 minutes. Return sausage, add Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
03 - Boil pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
04 - Melt butter in saucepan. Add cream and garlic powder until simmering. Whisk in Parmesan until smooth.
05 - Toss pasta with sauce, adding pasta water if needed. Top with sausage and garnish with parsley.

# Notes:

01 - Keeps 3 days in refrigerator.
02 - Can substitute other proteins.
03 - Add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms if desired.
