Polish Sausage & Kraut (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cans (14 oz each) sauerkraut, undrained
02 - 5-6 potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
03 - 1 cup water
04 - 1 lb Polish sausage, cut into chunks
05 - 1 tsp caraway seeds
06 - 1 bay leaf
07 - 1/4 tsp pepper

# Instructions:

01 - Grab everything you need and give those potatoes a good peeling before chopping them into hearty chunks.
02 - Dump the sauerkraut into your slow cooker first, then add those potato chunks. Sprinkle the caraway seeds over everything, toss in that bay leaf, and add a bit of pepper. Pour the water over it all.
03 - Place your chunky pieces of Polish sausage right on top of everything else. They'll flavor everything as they cook!
04 - Cover and let it do its thing - 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low. You'll know it's ready when those potatoes are fork-tender and everything smells amazing.
05 - Give it a taste and see if you need more seasoning. Sometimes I like to add a sprinkle of paprika or a bit more pepper at this point.
06 - Fish out that bay leaf (nobody wants to bite into that!), then ladle this comfort food into bowls and dig in while it's hot!

# Notes:

01 - This hearty Polish sausage and sauerkraut stew is perfect comfort food for cold evenings.
02 - For a lighter version, you can swap the Polish sausage for turkey or chicken sausage.
