Peppermint Kiss Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour.
02 - 2 teaspoons baking powder.
03 - 1/2 teaspoon salt.
04 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened.
05 - 3/4 cup sugar, plus 1/2 cup for garnish.
06 - 2 eggs.
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
08 - 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon coarse green sugar.
09 - 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon coarse red sugar.
10 - 36 Peppermint Kisses, unwrapped.

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
02 - In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
03 - With an electric mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes. Mix in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract.
04 - Add the prepared dry ingredients to the wet mix until just combined.
05 - Divide dough in half. Add one tablespoon green sugar to one half and one tablespoon red sugar to other half, mixing to combine.
06 - Divide remaining 1/2 cup sugar into two bowls. Add 1 teaspoon green sugar to one bowl and 1 teaspoon red sugar to the other.
07 - Form 1-inch dough balls, roll in matching colored sugar, and place on cookie sheet. Gently press each to slightly flatten.
08 - Bake for 8-10 minutes.
09 - Cool 2-3 minutes, then top each cookie with a peppermint kiss, pressing slightly. Let cool completely before moving.

01 - Can use any colors of coarse sugar desired.
02 - Peppermint kisses melt easily, so wait until cookies are completely cool before moving.
