Heart Macarons (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup almond flour (100g).
02 - 1½ cups powdered sugar (180g).
03 - 3 room temp egg whites (90g).
04 - ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar.
05 - ¼ cup granulated sugar.
06 - ¼ teaspoon red food coloring.
07 - ½ teaspoon vanilla.
08 - ¼ cup soft butter.
09 - 1 cup powdered sugar.
10 - 2 spoons heavy cream.
11 - 1 teaspoon vanilla.

# Instructions:

01 - Sift almond flour and sugar twice. Print heart templates.
02 - Beat egg whites and cream of tartar to soft peaks. Add sugar slowly to stiff peaks.
03 - Add coloring and vanilla. Fold in dry ingredients until batter forms figure 8.
04 - Pipe hearts using template. Tap pan and pop bubbles. Let rest 45-60 minutes.
05 - Bake at 315°F for 13 minutes until feet form. Cool completely.
06 - Beat butter, sugar, cream and vanilla until smooth.
07 - Pipe filling on half the cookies and sandwich. Refrigerate 1-2 days.

01 - Weigh ingredients for best results.
02 - Avoid making on humid days.
03 - Let ingredients come to room temp.
04 - Age egg whites if possible.
