Creamy Chicken Alfredo Sandwiches (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Ground Chicken Sloppy Joes

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
02 - 1 small sweet onion, finely diced
03 - 3 cloves garlic (minced or pressed, paste, or jarred)
04 - 1 pound ground chicken
05 - ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
06 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt
07 - ½ teaspoon black pepper (or less to taste)

→ Alfredo Sauce

08 - 4 tablespoons butter (salted)
09 - 1 cup heavy cream
10 - 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
11 - 2 teaspoons garlic powder

→ For Serving

12 - Sliced Provolone or Mozzarella Cheese
13 - Hamburger buns

# Instructions:

01 - Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add your finely diced sweet onion and cook until it becomes translucent and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
02 - Toss in the minced garlic and let it cook for just about 30 seconds until fragrant. Don't let it burn!
03 - Add the ground chicken to the skillet along with the Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook and break up the chicken with a wooden spoon until it's completely browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess liquid from the pan.
04 - In a separate small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, pour in the heavy cream, add the grated parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Keep stirring constantly for about 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens up nicely.
05 - Pour your creamy Alfredo sauce over the cooked chicken mixture. Stir everything together so the chicken is completely coated in that rich, creamy sauce.
06 - Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken further and the flavors to blend together.
07 - While the mixture simmers, prepare your buns. Separate them and lay on a baking sheet. Spread butter on each half (or spray with cooking spray) and broil for a few minutes until golden. Watch carefully so they don't burn! For extra cheesiness, add a slice of cheese to each top bun and broil for another 30 seconds. Scoop the chicken Alfredo mixture onto the bottom buns, top with the cheese-toasted tops, and serve!

# Notes:

01 - For bigger portions, this recipe makes about 4 sloppy joes instead of 5
02 - Fresh grated parmesan cheese from a wedge melts more smoothly than pre-grated options
03 - Toasting the buns adds a nice crunch that balances the creamy filling
