Preheat oven to 200°C and lightly grease a 23x33 cm baking dish.

Heat a large skillet over medium flame. Sauté ground beef and diced onion for 5–7 minutes until beef is fully browned and onion is softened. Drain excess fat.

Add marinara or pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the skillet. Mix thoroughly and simmer for 2 minutes.

Evenly spread the beef and sauce mixture in the prepared baking dish. Scatter 100 g shredded cheese over the mixture.

Lay frozen tater tots in a single even layer over the cheese and beef base. Sprinkle the remaining 100 g cheese over the tater tots.

Transfer to the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until tater tots are crisp and cheese is fully melted and bubbling.

If desired, add pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, green onions, or mushrooms atop the cooked casserole. Bake for an additional 5 minutes to warm toppings through.

Remove from oven and allow casserole to rest briefly before serving.
