Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.

In a bowl, mix 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and softened butter until crumbly; press into the bottom of the dish. Bake for 15 minutes.

In another bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, eggs, lemon juice, zest, and the remaining flour until smooth.

Pour the lemon mixture over the pre-baked crust and return to the oven for an additional 20-25 minutes until set.

Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
