Combine washed blueberries, 500 millilitres water, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer the mixture for 15 minutes to infuse and thicken.

Remove from heat. Strain syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a measuring cup, discarding the solids. Refrigerate syrup while preparing tea.

Fill a 2–2.5 litre glass pitcher with cold water. Add tea bags and steep for 5 minutes at room temperature.

Remove tea bags. Pour chilled blueberry syrup into the brewed tea and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Pour into glasses filled with ice. Serve immediately.
